Lets Talk Science: Climate Action Lab
A mentorship program that facilitates the leap for youths to build a sustainable experience cycle for Climate Action through the engagement of showcasing their climate project at their school exhibition.
Climate Action Lab, Let's Talk Science's latest project, employs design thinking to engage high school students in identifying their needs regarding climate action participation. The goal was to uncover the needs of Canadian teens regarding climate action participation and establish the criteria for developing climate action prototypes.
Students interact with real elements of the environments as they try to clear each mission
Field trips to LTS Escape Rooms and solving problems related to climate change using past knowledge
Working on a project relating to a topic of climate change and showcasing it at a school exhibition
The Climate Mentorship Program invites students to engage in a semester-long climate project, culminating in a showcase at their school exhibition. Participants receive guidance from peer mentors and attend workshops hosted by Let's Talk Science, learning about various aspects of climate activism and change. They select a project aligned with their passion, incorporating workshop learnings, and are free to use any medium for their presentation.
The program spans two semesters, with participants transitioning to mentors in the second semester and vice versa for the following year. Students can earn up to 40 volunteer hours per school year by participating in both the exhibition and mentoring or up to 20 hours by participating in the exhibition alone for one semester.
The Experience Cycle, an important design model from LTS, guides us in understanding the needs of the students at each step in order for a sustaining circular system. Our Mentorship Program aligns with the Experience cycle, seamlessly bridging the gap from Ambassador to Awareness and completing the full circle.
