The narrative of our project, Dye 染, revolves around our group members' multicultural background, as well as the expresses each of our stories as someone who has experienced challenges of blending and fitting in with another culture or environment.
The physical setup of our installation mimics the action and movement of a washing machine, which is the motif of our story. We aimed to guide the audiences to turn their bodies in all four directions by projecting the scenes on each of the walls one by one in chronological order.
We spent couple days testing out the space of the room our installation will live in and figuring the technical difficulties with our projectors. Materials were testing using some sample fabrics, and this was important to do because different materials and dimensions of the fabric gave varying moods of the installation environment. That was how we knew we wanted our fabric long enough to hit the floor to bring a more cozier environment for the audience.
