Space of Time

Performance Installation
2024

This performance installation explores the concept of our physical space and the growing of digital space in modern society. Our work blurs the boundaries between the virtual world and the real world through people completing coherent actions in the video and in the actual scene.

The Space of Time (World) is inspired by artist James Rollo's work Flat Screen. James completes people's imagination of the events in their minds by complementing the virtual and real content, with the sounds of figures hitting chairs and buckets. The chairs and buckets in the real world complement each other's missing sensory elements. Through these elements, the work questions the limitations of the frame between screen and actual space.

In our current era of the internet age, we are heavily influenced by virtual games and electronic products. The distinction of reality and the virtual world is being blurred by the evolution and development of technology. The younger generation’s entertainment, shopping lifestyle and social activities are derived online.

The reason why it is named The Space of Time is because in Eastern culture, the world consists of two meanings: time and the boundaries of spaces. The Space of Time is saying in today's technology and network era, the space of the world has no boundaries anymore, and only with the time’s difference.
